During His Majesty’s regal voyage to Kenya in November, Charles, in a speech delineating their familial ties to East Africa, affectionately referred to Kate as his “cherished daughter-in-law.” It’s worth noting that it was in Kenya that Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton, his companion from university, back in 2010.
In her engagement interview, the prospective Princess disclosed her initial trepidation about meeting William’s father. However, her fears quickly dissipated as she found King Charles to be remarkably cordial and welcoming, which made her introduction to the royal family remarkably smooth.
