The Princess arrived at NatWest’s headquarters in the capital on Tuesday to host the inaugural meeting of a business task force focused on early childhood. The task force is in support of her Shaping Us campaign, which she has described as her “life’s work”. She urged business leaders to prioritize wellbeing in the workplace to support family life.

The gathering discussed how the business community can build a nurturing and supportive world around children and those who care for them. In her speech, the Princess clarified that this initiative is not just about supporting children in their earliest years, but also about building healthy communities in which they can grow. She called on influential business leaders to support her in creating the societal change that is needed.

The Princess highlighted two essential things that are needed to transform society for generations to come. The first is to prioritize creating working environments that provide the support and training required to cultivate and maintain social and emotional wellbeing. This will benefit the workforce personally and professionally, creating a better working culture within organizations. Given that most of the workforce has a role in raising the next generation at home, this will also transform the experience of the very youngest in society.

The second is a more concentrated effort in supporting the social and emotional development of the youngest children. The key time to build these skills is in the first five years. Kensington Palace has said the task force will play an essential role in the Princess’s focus on transforming the way society prioritizes the youngest in the first few years of their lives. The Princess of Wales was her typically stylish self, recycling her £1,945 Alexander McQueen blazer, and teaming it with chic black trousers and matching stilettos. Her hair was perfectly styled in loose waves, and she beamed as she made her way inside the building.
