Royal Fans React Sweetly to Prince George’s Starring Role in King Charles’s Coronation

Buckingham Palace has announced that Prince George, the eldest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, will have a significant role to play at King Charles’s coronation on May 6th. The future king, who is only nine years old, will serve as one of his grandfather’s Pages of Honour.

The Pages of Honour traditionally hold the robes of some of the leading individuals taking part in the procession, and the role is typically granted to teenage sons of the nobility. They take part in major ceremonies involving the monarch, including coronations and the State Opening of Parliament.

The Palace has shared a new portrait of the King and Queen Camilla, taken by Hugo Burnand in the blue drawing room. Alongside this, details about the eight Pages of Honour have been released. The news has sparked a big reaction from royal fans on social media, with many expressing their excitement about Prince George’s involvement in the ceremony.

The King’s Pages of Honour will include Prince George, Nicholas Barclay (13), grandson of Sarah Troughton, one of the Queen’s Companions, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley (13), son of the Marquess of Cholmondeley (also known as film-maker David Rocksavage and a friend of the Prince of Wales), and Ralph Tollemache (12).

Meanwhile, the Queen’s Pages of Honour will be her three grandsons – twin boys Gus and Louis (13), who are the sons of her daughter Laura Lopes, and Frederick (13), the son of her son Tom Parker Bowles – as well as her great-nephew, Arthur Elliot (10).

The Pages of Honour wear scarlet frock coats with gold trimmings over a white satin waistcoat, breeches and hose, white gloves, black buckled shoes, and a lace cravat and ruffles.

While Prince George has previously served as a pageboy at the royal weddings of Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank, and Prince harry to meghan markle, this will be his most significant public role to date. Fans of the royal family are eagerly anticipating the coronation, which is set to be a historic event.
