A full decade has passed since Prince George’s sacred baptismal event.

The young royal received the sacrament on the 23rd of October in 2013, administered by Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, within the hallowed confines of the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace.

For this momentous occasion, George donned the traditional regal christening garment—a meticulous replica of the original Honiton gown commissioned by Queen Victoria back in 1841.

In the wake of this intimate ceremony, the royal lineage assembled for the capture of official portraits. These photographs were taken in the Morning Room at Clarence House, and they include a historic image featuring the late Queen Elizabeth II alongside her three successors: Prince Charles, Prince William, and the young Prince George.

Within the photograph, the young George is depicted, gazing with unwavering focus into the camera’s lens. To achieve this picture-perfect snapshot, his mother, then the Duchess of Cambridge, employed a charming and ingenious technique.

For a behind-the-scenes glimpse into this charming moment, we can turn to a segment shared during the late Queen’s Christmas broadcast in 2013. Queen Elizabeth II, in her message, alluded to the arrival of her great-grandson, stating: “Here at home, my own family has expanded this Christmas. As many of you are aware, the arrival of a new baby grants us all the opportunity to ponder the future with renewed joy and optimism. For the new parents, life will never be quite the same again! As with all who undergo the sacrament of christening, George was initiated into a joyful faith rooted in Christian responsibility and dedication. Following the baptism, we convened for the customary photograph. It was a joyous affair, uniting four generations.”

Since that time, William and Kate have welcomed two more additions to their family: Princess Charlotte in 2015 and Prince Louis in 2018.

While Louis received his christening at the Chapel Royal, Charlotte’s baptism took place at St. Mary Magdalene, Sandringham, the traditional place of worship for the royal family on Christmas Day.

Christopher Jackson, Getty’s renowned royal photographer, previously shared insights during HELLO!’s “A Right Royal Podcast,” detailing his experience capturing the young royal children during significant family occasions over the years. He recounted a heartwarming moment he observed during Charlotte’s christening.

The three royal siblings—George, aged ten; Charlotte, aged eight; and Louis, aged five—currently pursue their education at Lambrook School in Berkshire. They are presently savoring the October half-term break.

William accompanied his eldest son to witness the Rugby World Cup quarter-final clash between Wales and Argentina in Marseille earlier this month. Young George, exuding confidence, was seen exchanging pleasantries with dignitaries upon arrival, impeccably attired in a navy suit and a crimson necktie.

Regrettably, Wales was eliminated from the tournament by Argentina. It is noteworthy that Prince William holds the position of patron for the Welsh Rugby Union, while Kate assumed the role of patron for the England Rugby Union in the year 2022.
