Princess Charlotte’s secret birthday treat with Princess of Wales in London

Princess Charlotte, the daughter of Prince William and the Princess of Wales, celebrated her eighth birthday on May 2, just days before her grandfather King Charles III’s coronation. To mark the occasion, her mother took her to watch a performance of Cinderella by The Royal Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada at the Royal Opera House on Saturday, April 29.

Twitter user Barbara Davies confirmed the presence of the royals at the event, writing, “The Princess of Wales took her daughter for an early birthday treat to watch The Royal Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada’s performance of Cinderella.” She also noted that Princess Charlotte was accompanied by her friends, who joined her on stage at the end of the performance.

A video shared by a royal fan account on Instagram showed Princess Charlotte joining the dancers on stage and waving an illuminated star wand as she pranced across the stage. The young royal looked charming in a sweet floral tea dress, and her brunette tresses were styled into a ballerina-style bun.

The Princess of Wales was also present, looking elegant as ever in sleek wide-leg trousers and a ‘Boo’ Ivory Blouse from Ghost. She completed the look with a pair of pointed black suede ballet flats from Boden, channeling ballerina energy.

It is no secret that Princess Charlotte is passionate about dance, particularly ballet. In fact, back in 2017, the Princess of Wales revealed that Charlotte “absolutely loves [ballet].” Prince William also confirmed her love for the art form, saying, “Charlotte is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff and everything.”

It is no surprise, then, that Princess Charlotte was thrilled with her birthday treat to watch the ballet. She will also be pleased to know that ballet is one of the dance types taught at her new school, Lambrook.

Overall, Princess Charlotte’s eighth birthday was a memorable occasion that she will cherish for years to come. Her love for dance and her passion for ballet were on full display, and her mother, the Princess of Wales, ensured that she had a day filled with joy and celebration.
