Zara Tindall, the Queen’s granddaughter and mother of three, has opened up about her hopes for her children’s sporting future. In a recent interview with IMG Golf’s Opinion Matters podcast, she shared her desire for her children to learn golf so that they can play together as a family in the future.
Zara shares her three children, Mia, Lena, and Lucas, with her husband, former England Rugby captain Mike Tindall. She revealed that she knows her children will eventually surpass her golfing skills, but she still hopes to be able to play with them. She said, “Yeah I hope so, hopefully I’ll be a little bit better by then, because I know exactly what’s going to happen. They’re all going to get better than us aren’t they? And I’ll be the mug at the back getting 15 shots, they’ll be waiting for me!”
Zara’s interest in golf is not new. Last year, she participated in the Slingsby celebrity golf academy, which aimed to inspire more women to get into golf. The initiative was created by Slingsby Gin, and Zara underwent six months of training to prepare for the event. She competed against other celebrities, including Judy Murray, Dr Zoe Williams, and Anna Woolhouse.
In addition to her personal interest in golf, Zara and Mike also host an annual golf charity fundraiser. Last year, the event was held at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, and it attracted a stellar line-up of A-Listers.
However, golf is not the only sport that runs in the Tindall family. Mike recently revealed in an exclusive interview with HELLO! that their two eldest children, Mia and Lena, are already following in his footsteps and attend Minchinhampton Rugby Club every Sunday. He explained, “Both Mia and Lena go to Minchinhampton rugby club on a Sunday, and they are only 9 and 4 so we’ve got to give them a bit of time before the pressure comes on, but they love all sports and they play rugby as well.”
Zara echoed this sentiment in her recent interview, saying, “We can all be interested in the same things, that’s incredible.” She highlighted the importance of making memories and spending time together as a family through sports.
Overall, Zara Tindall’s love for sports and her desire for her children to follow in her footsteps is heartwarming. She hopes to create lasting memories and continue to bond with her family through sports, whether it’s golf or rugby.
