The Duchess of Edinburgh, who serves as the Global Ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, is presently in Ethiopia to commemorate the impactful efforts of the global eye care organization Orbis. She is also taking part in the nationwide observance of World Sight Day on October 12.
The Duchess toured a countryside healthcare facility and a hospital, both of which conduct daily sight-preserving medical examinations and surgical procedures with assistance from Orbis. During her visit, she interacted with individuals who have regained their eyesight and paid a visit to a school where children are being educated on safeguarding themselves against trachoma by practicing face washing and good hygiene.
