On Thursday, Princess Eugenie commemorated her fifth wedding anniversary with her husband Jack Brooksbank by sharing a nostalgic video from their wedding day. This remarkable video, accompanied by Florence and the Machine’s “You’ve Got the Love,” was posted on her social media platforms. In her caption, the 33-year-old royal wrote, “5 years ago today,” along with two heart emojis.
The enchanting video included previously unreleased footage of Princess Eugenie preparing for her wedding day, with her sister Princess Beatrice and mother Sarah Ferguson by her side. It also captured the moment when she walked down the aisle towards Jack and their kiss on the steps of St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The video concluded by counting the years since Eugenie and Jack’s wedding, concluding with a photo of the couple on the beach with their children, August and Ernest.
Princess Eugenie and businessman Jack Brooksbank, who had been in a long-term relationship, exchanged vows on October 12, 2018, just five months after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. Their autumnal wedding took place at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, a location close to Eugenie’s childhood home, the Royal Lodge.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the firstborn children of the Prince and Princess of Wales, took part as page boys and bridesmaids, with Lady Louise Windsor guiding the bridal party as they entered the chapel.
Princess Beatrice, Eugenie’s elder sister, fulfilled the important role of the maid of honor, dressed in a royal blue ensemble designed by Ralph & Russo.
The wedding gown worn by the royal bride was crafted by British fashion designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos. Eugenie made a specific request for a dress with an open back to reveal the scar from her scoliosis surgery, which she had at the age of 12.
Before her wedding, she shared with ITV’s This Morning, “I had a back operation at the age of 12, and you will see it on Friday [at the wedding]. It’s a wonderful way to pay tribute to those who took care of me and to support young people who face similar challenges.
“I believe we can redefine the concept of beauty and proudly display our scars. It’s truly meaningful to advocate for this.”
For her wedding, her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, graciously lent her the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara.
Since getting married, Eugenie and Jack have welcomed two children into their family: August, born in February 2021, and Ernest, who arrived in May.
Their wedding anniversary coincides with the approaching 64th birthday of Sarah, Duchess of York, the Princess’s mother, which falls on Sunday, October 15th.
