Prince William and Princess Kate had a discreet date night last Friday, surprising everyone with their choice of venue. According to MailOnline, the royal pair spent the evening at the auctioneers Dreweatts’ salerooms in Berkshire. The auction featured an opulent collection that once belonged to the late Robert Kime, who had been enlisted by King Charles in 2000 for renovations at Highgrove and Clarence House.
Indeed, the occasion involved the entire royal family, as one of the items showcased in the collection is the property of Lady Chatto, who happens to be Prince William’s second cousin. This auction featured Mr. Kime’s personally chosen pieces from his residences in London and Provence, and among the 750 lots, there was one of Lady Sarah’s oil paintings.
Lady Sarah, aged 59, is the sole niece of the late Queen and the daughter of the late Princess Margaret and photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones.
Following her education at Bedales School, she pursued her studies at both the Camberwell School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools. Since 1995, she has been displaying her paintings at the Redfern Gallery, and her artwork has been featured in numerous other exhibitions throughout the years.
It remains uncertain whether the royal pair made any bids for the items, but if they did, it’s probable that these acquisitions were intended for their friends and family, rather than for their personal use.
The grand setting of the auction was undeniably suitable for a royal gathering. Donnington Priory, located in the heart of Berkshire and just an hour’s drive from London, is an opulent country estate. The residence is surrounded by a meticulously maintained garden and is situated alongside a picturesque lake.
The news of the couple’s evening out comes after Princess Kate’s recent royal engagement, where she visited the Vsi Razom Community Hub in Bracknell. During her visit, she joined volunteers who were packing aid boxes destined for Ukraine. In Ukrainian, “Vsi Razom” translates to “all together” in English.
During her visit, the Princess also highlighted the important work of the hub, which provides support to Ukrainians affected by the ongoing conflict. For this occasion, Kate chose an elegant outfit, consisting of a white shirt, a grey sweater vest, and grey trousers.
In line with the TikTok-favored style, she wore her long brown hair in loose, blown-out waves, and her newly trimmed ‘bangs’ added an extra touch of glamour.
