On Monday, the Prince and Princess of Wales took part in Queen Camilla’s birthday celebrations by expressing their warm wishes on Instagram. Prince William and Kate shared a photograph of the Queen with their 15 million Instagram followers on Monday via Instagram Stories. Their message read, “Happy Birthday to Her Majesty the Queen.” The photo was captured during Queen Camilla’s visit to Wimbledon on Wednesday, where she was accompanied by her sister, Annabel Elliot, to enjoy the matches on the center court. In addition to Prince William and Kate, other members of the royal family also extended their public birthday greetings to Camilla. King Charles and Camilla’s official Instagram account posted a message alongside three pictures of the monarch, saying, “Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very Happy Birthday today!”
On Monday, Camilla celebrates her 76th birthday, which also happens to be her first birthday since becoming Queen. To commemorate this special occasion, The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery Battery will conduct a 41-gun salute at London’s Green Park at midday. This location holds significance as it is close to both Buckingham Palace and Clarence House, which are the royal residences of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
The Queen’s birthday festivities come after a week filled with various engagements. She made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon and also embarked on a joint visit to St Ives alongside King Charles on Thursday.
However, the upcoming weeks will provide the royal couple with an opportunity to relax and spend quality time together as they embark on their summer holidays. Traditionally, King Charles and Camilla have a customary routine of commencing their summer break in the first week of August at the Castle of Mey, which holds sentimental value as it was the former residence of King Charles’ late grandmother. Subsequently, they will proceed to Birkhall, their home situated on the Balmoral estate.
Currently, there are ongoing renovation works taking place on the grounds of Balmoral Castle. Nevertheless, the castle will remain accessible to the public until mid-August. Consequently, it is likely that the royals will spend a comparatively shorter duration at Balmoral this summer in contrast to the customary length of their stay during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
