The Princess of Wales had an unexpected surprise during her recent outing when a young boy playfully tickled her from behind. This delightful incident was captured in a video shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, by Sky News. The video shows Kate, aged 41, engaging with young rugby players during a Rugby League Inclusivity Day in Hull, which took place on Thursday.
In the video, one of the boys mischievously tickles the Princess while her back is turned. The Princess reacts with a gasp, swiftly turning around. However, her response is filled with grace as she smiles and warmly shakes hands with the young boy.
Kate, who serves as the patron of the Rugby Football League, left a lasting impression on her hosts during the engagement. She even participated in a game of wheelchair rugby, showcasing her impressive skills. After successfully scoring a conversion, Tom Coyd, the coach of England’s World Cup-winning wheelchair rugby team, remarked, “I believe she must have had secret practice sessions prior to her visit because her performance was exceptional. She even completed a passing move with a try in the corner, which truly impressed me.”
Following the royal visit, Tom Coyd added, “Wheelchair rugby is an incredible spectator sport with a strong focus on inclusivity. It is the only sport at the highest level where both disabled and non-disabled players can compete together. Kate herself mentioned that the intense collisions she witnessed on TV during the matches were what captivated the children’s interest.”
This special day was organized by the Rugby Football League, Hull FC, and the University of Hull, and it took place at the university’s Allam Sport Centre. The Rugby League Inclusivity Day featured participation from Hull FC’s wheelchair, physical disability, and learning disability teams, as well as university students, who engaged in skills sessions and friendly matches.
Kate engaged in conversations with the players and actively participated in passing exercises alongside members of the learning disability squad. She also devoted time to conversing with the participants.
As she prepared to depart, she was generously gifted England wheelchair Rugby League jerseys for her three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, all of whom are enthusiastic rugby enthusiasts.
The Princess had a packed schedule of commitments this week. On Tuesday, she and Prince William journeyed to Cardiff to commemorate the commencement of Black History Month. During their visit to the Grange Pavilion, they had the opportunity to meet with Windrush veterans. In a light-hearted moment during a group photo, Prince William playfully remarked, “Who’s playfully teasing me?”
Additionally, Kate shared insights into her support for Prince George’s exam preparations during her conversation with Sixth Form students at Fitzalan High School. Furthermore, on Wednesday, the Princess participated in a volunteer effort at the Vsi Razom Community Hub in Bracknell, assisting in the packing of aid boxes designated for shipment to Ukraine.
