On Wednesday evening, Queen Consort Camilla attended a state banquet in Germany with her husband King Charles. The event was held at the German president’s Bellevue Palace to honour their visit to the country. Camilla stunned in an elegant black and silver Bruce Oldfield gown, She paired the Boucheron diamond tiara with the fringed diamond necklace that had once belonged to the late Queen. She also wore the Grand Cross (Special Class) of the Federal Order of Merit, which was awarded to her earlier in the day by President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Camilla completed her look with her usual blonde blow-dry and soft, natural makeup.
King Charles looked smart in a coat and tails. The royal couple’s first day out in Germany saw Camilla dressed in a chic blue coat by Bruce Oldfield, which she paired with a matching Philip Treacy hat. She chose a shade that paid homage to the national flower of Germany, the cornflower. She also wore a turquoise and diamond brooch from the late Queen’s collection, given to her by Queen Mary on her 1942 confirmation.
Upon arrival at Berlin-Brandenburg Government Airport, Charles and Camilla were greeted with a twenty-one gun salute and a fly-past. Their visit to Germany came after their planned trip to France was postponed due to widespread protests over President Emmanuel Macron’s retirement age reforms. President Macron has requested that the British government reschedule the couple’s four-day state visit to France for the beginning of summer.
This was not the first time that Camilla has worn a tiara as Queen Consort. In November 2022, she chose the beautiful George VI Sapphire tiara for a state banquet at Buckingham Palace to honour South African president Cyril Ramaphosa’s visit. She wore it again for the Diplomatic Reception in December. It has also been confirmed that for King Charles’ coronation on May 6, Queen Consort Camilla will wear a modified version of Queen Mary’s crown, set with the Cullinan III, IV and V diamonds in tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth.
