The British royal family celebrated King Charles’s first Easter as king on Sunday, and the annual church service was held at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Attendees included many members of the royal family, such as the Prince and Princess of Wales and all three of their children, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Princess Anne, and the Tindalls, who brought along their two daughters.
The new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were also present, adding further to a current record they hold within the royal family. While there is no expectation for royals to join the monarch for the Easter service, many often choose to do so. This year’s attendees were a testament to this tradition.
Sophie and Edward currently hold the longest streak of attendance at the Easter service, with 12 consecutive years. They were accompanied by their son James, Earl of Wessex, for the service. Sophie was seen embracing the spring sunshine in a cranberry-colored coat, suede hat, and matching boots.
Their daughter, Lady Louise, was not in attendance this time. She was likely hard at work with her studies as she currently attends St Andrews university. Lady Louise studied hard at St Mary’s School Ascot to earn her place on the English course at the royal-favorite university. Her chosen subjects were English, History, Politics, and Drama.
The royal family’s Easter service is a longstanding tradition and provides an opportunity for the royals to come together and celebrate the holiday. This year’s attendance was no exception, and it was heartening to see so many members of the royal family coming together to celebrate Easter and King Charles’s first as king. The service also highlighted the commitment and dedication of Sophie and Edward to maintaining their streak of attendance, an impressive feat for any member of the royal family.
