The Prince of Wales wore country clothing as he took a special trip on Tuesday. William, who is 41 years old, visited Wistman’s Wood on Dartmoor, an old woodland located on land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.
He wore a Beretta wax jacket and a flat cap for the occasion. The Prince inherited the estate following the passing of his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, and the ascension of his father, King Charles, in September of last year.
The father-of-three posted some stunning photos and videos of the scenery on the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales, and the future King appeared to be very comfortable in that environment.
The caption accompanying the posts read, “Wonderful Wistman’s Wood. A truly beautiful natural area on the Duchy of Cornwall estate that is open for everyone to enjoy.
Over the next two decades, the Duchy will be doubling the size of this ancient woodland, aiming to provide a habitat for rare species and promote thriving nature.”
The Prince’s followers on Instagram expressed their delight with the news and took the opportunity to commend him for bringing attention to the nature reserve.
“This is truly marvelous! Taking real actions to support the local community and contribute to a greener world. It’s great to see The Duke actively supporting his Duchy and spending time there,” one person commented.
“How amazing! It’s an incredibly special woodland,” another person remarked.
“It’s fantastic to see his father’s excellent work being carried on!” a third person added.
This development follows William’s surprise appearance on Monday when he inaugurated a new restaurant and atrium at the nursery of the Duchy of Cornwall near Lostwithiel in Cornwall. Diners were taken aback by this unexpected visit.
The Orangery was constructed as part of a nine-month expansion project and will offer a seasonal menu featuring fresh produce sourced from the gardens.
The previous Duke of Cornwall, who is now the reigning King, played a significant role in the architectural plans for the structure.
William, dressed impeccably in a blazer, shirt, and trousers ensemble, participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Assisting him were nine-year-old twins James and Violet Scott, who were visiting Cornwall from Scotland during their vacation.
What is the Duchy of Cornwall?
The Duchy, worth over £1 billion, stands as one of Britain’s largest and most ancient landed estates.
It was founded in 1337 by Edward III to provide support for his son and successor, Prince Edward, famously referred to as the Black Prince, as well as all future heirs.
Spanning across 23 counties in England and Wales, the Duchy encompasses notable sites such as the Oval cricket ground and a vast expanse of 67,000 acres in Dartmoor.
